Welcome to the Nuclear English Sampler!
This is a temporary website set up for non-native English speakers attending the first World Nuclear University Summer Institute (WNU SI) in Idaho Falls.
On this site, you will be able to listen to extracts from interviews with nuclear experts (including KEN BROCKMAN - presenter at the WNU SI), practise English pronunciation and nuclear terminology.
The exercises on this site are adapted from Nuclear English, the first English language textbook for people working in the nuclear industry.
Note that:
- The site is best viewed using a Windows system and Internet
Explorer.
- You can use any audio player to listen
to the audio extracts.
- You can listen to each audio extract more than once
and that it will be possible to read the audio script
the last time you listen.
- You can only score 100% in the exercises if you get all the answers correct first time.
- A pop-up message "Correct!"
appears when you have answered all the questions correctly.
