A Note from WNU Director, Isis Leslie
Dear Colleagues:

On behalf of World Nuclear University, I want to wish you a happy, healthy, and safe holiday!

2021 was a year of transformation and innovation for WNU. I joined in the beginning of the year as Programme Lead, along with my colleague Justine Singer-Kaufold, and was honored to accept the role of Director in August.

As Director, I am focused on solidifying WNU's role as the global nuclear industry's leading professional development organization by learning from our network of institutional, educational, and professional partners about what skills are needed for future nuclear leaders and how to deliver those in a post-COVID world.

WNU’s virtual programming matured in 2021. In addition to the launch of a brand new, two-week virtual course, Strategic Leadership Academy, WNU conducted its traditionally in-person School on Radiation Technologies online. WNU also hosted a virtual World Nuclear Industry Today course for Tsinghua University and Nuclear English course for Rosatom. We are proud to have impacted over 274 international nuclear professionals this year. The WNU team also presented at industry events, including the IAEA's Technical Meeting on Educational Networks and the International Nuclear Atlantic Conference.

I am impressed by the continued commitment to skills and knowledge development exhibited by our students and the openness of our faculty members to commit to our student’s learning, despite the long hours spent online and 'Zoom fatigue.'

Next year, we hope to leverage the benefits of online learning by introducing new virtual content like a webinar series for Alumni. We also hope to transition back into in-person programming and holding the much-anticipated Summer Institute again. Subscribe to our emails and follow us on social media to stay updated on what's to come!

In conclusion, I would like to thank you for your continued support of WNU. I would also like to impart a spirit of optimism for the industry's future, demonstrated by the enthusiastic and resilient WNU students of 2021!isis-1.png

Sincerely,
