WNU is committed to a working and learning environment where people can achieve their full potential free of all types of harassment. The WNU recognises sexual harassment and sexual violence are prevalent in all areas of society, including higher education, and can take many forms. The nature of sexual harassment can be difficult to recognise and, gone undetected, can result in a culture that tolerates such behaviour. This can lead to individuals feeling isolated and unsafe. WNU recognises the importance of raising specific awareness of sexual harassment and sexual violence to promote a fully inclusive culture in order to enable issues to be tackled appropriately if they occur, resulting in a better environment for all.

The WNU’s Ethics Code includes Equality of Respect and Opportunity as one of the Code’s six key principles. This details the School’s commitment to treating all people with dignity and respect and ensuring that no person is treated less favourably as a result of any of the protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010, including gender (and gender identity).
